POW row heals

President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh has been trying to capitalise on obtaining the release of four Djiboutian soldiers from Eritrean custody after mediation by Qatar. He hopes it will help him in the presidential election on 8 April, though it is so dubious that the opposition, grouped in the Union pour le salut national, is boycotting it. Eritrea released the soldiers on 18 March after capturing them during a border skirmish in June 2008. It had previously not acknowledged them at all. Guelleh has been tweeting that he will obtain the release of other soldiers.
