Secrets of the Dos Santos media empire

The Presidential family’s media companies pump out propaganda, provide cover for spy agencies , troll political opponents on social media and control assets in the US, Portugal and Brazil

Semba Comunicação is the state-subsidised private corporation controlled by Welwitschia 'Tchizé' Dos Santos, José Eduardo dos Santos's 39-year-old daughter and his 32-year-old son José Paulino 'Coreón Dú'. It's at the centre of a web of companies in every branch of the media, from satellite broadcasting to soap operas, pro-government content production, and even fashion magazines. Some output is more commercial such as magazines aimed at wealthy Angolan women but most of is aimed at propping up the domination of the ruling Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA). Practically all of it is paid by the Angolan state.
