Banda flies home

Ex-President Joyce Banda flew into Blantyre airport on 28 April after a four-year absence from Malawi to an enthusiastic welcome from a crowd of supporters. She and President Peter Mutharika had traded accusations of conspiracy to murder and of massive corruption since she left in August 2014, but all was quiet between the two after she landed. This led to speculation they had agreed a truce, perhaps while President Mutharika was in South Africa at the same time as Banda in mid-April while he was on his way to the Commonwealth summit in London.
