Mining for clarity

Mining companies, already under pressure from the resource nationalist offensive of President John Magufuli's first presidential term, are complaining that the government's vagueness over its stakes in their operations is hindering investment. New laws in 2017 changed the investment climate, with the government taking an 'equitable stake' in mining operations. But the companies want to know what this means precisely and claim the government won't elaborate.
