Netumbo wins the prize

SWAPO Vice-President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has retained her party post and is lined up to become its first-ever female presidential candidate in November 2024. She won re-election at the 24-28 November party congress fairly comfortably, gaining 491 votes (58% of the total cast) against 270 for her main rival, Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila, who had been favoured by President Hage Geingob.
