An iron grip may be slipping

The case of a sacked general illustrates how the president's deft management of the military may be faltering

There's a chronic insurgency in Anglophone Cameroon, militant jihadists in the north, and democrats and civil society bodies yearning for relief from rigged elections and suppression of free speech. Managing this would be a challenge for any president, let alone the oldest head of government in the world, who is well into his 91st year.
