British court snubbed

On 9 January, the Tanzanian High Court threw out a request from a British court to enforce a ruling that Pan Africa Power Solutions (PAP), owned by Harbinder Singh Sethi, should pay Standard Chartered Bank Hong Kong (SCB-HK) US$168 million owed to SCB as the rightful owner of Independent Power Tanzania Limited (IPTL), a small independent power producer. The request was rejected on technical grounds, as often happens in Tanzanian courts. It marked yet another turn in the murky 30-year IPTL saga.
