Ben's bid

For the first time since Independence in 1990, a dissenter has publicly appeared in the senior ranks of the ruling South West African People’s Organisation. Ben Ulenga, High Commissioner to Britain, resigned at the end of August, in protest at the third five-year presidential term arranged for Sam Nujoma (AC Vol 39 No 13) after 1999 and Namibia’s military involvement in Congo-Kinshasa.
