Anambra kicks off the race

The governorship election in Anambra State on 16 November will kick off the race for the national polls in 2015, even if the formal opening may be six months away. Most importantly, it will be the first electoral confrontation between the governing People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and the newly organised All Progressives Congress (APC), which draws support from the south-west and north. Although the PDP sees Anambra and the south-east as its political heartland under the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan, the APC has mobilised its leading lights, such as former military leader General Muhammadu Buhari and the ex-Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu.
