President Bio taps Trump ally as security worries grow

Government hires US lobbyists after election dispute escalates and senior military officers are arrested

United States defence consultant Jerry Torres has struck an agreement with Julius Maada Bio that he says will make him National Security Advisor to the newly re-elected President of Sierra Leone and a lobbyist for the government. It's unclear how Torres will work with the current National Security team in Freetown which is headed by Brigadier Kellie Conteh, a well-respected officer who helped restructure the military after the civil war and led security reforms with the UN.
