Anil Sardana is looking overseas to escape the constraints Indian markets place on his company. In April 2012, Tata Power formed a joint venture, Cennergi, with South Africa’s Exxaro Resources to develop clean-energy projects in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. Cennergi is the preferred bidder for two South African wind projects at Amakhala and Tsitsikamma totalling 234 megawatts. Tata Power is also looking for coal and natural gas assets in southern Africa.
