Making a hash of it

The price of cannabis has soared this summer in Britain and other European markets. Smokers can lay much of the blame on Driss Basri, Interior Minister of Morocco, which is thought to supply over half of European imports. The clean-up campaign he launched earlier this year has led to the arrest of several previously immune drugs barons and customs officers, as well as various UK, French, German and Spanish citizens (including teenagers and a couple in their late sixties) whose gaol sentences have made headlines.
