The dearth of data

The pandemic is spreading unevenly across Africa and officials warn of a growing number of hotspots threatening public health

When Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed the nation on 4 June, he outlined a dilemma facing many governments. The scientists were telling him to maintain the lockdown while the economists wanted to loosen the restraints. 'I was not dealing with a right and a wrong: I was caught in between two rights,' he said.
