Ruto goes West

A ten-day tour of the United States and Britain at the beginning of March marks Deputy President William Ruto's most important trip yet ahead of August's presidential elections. It is being marketed as engaging Kenya's 'traditional partners on the country's democratic consolidation and economic prospects and challenges', as Ruto assures Kenyans that he has international support. It has rattled his opponents who insist that Ruto is seeing only middle-ranking officials.
