Warlord on the loose

Charles Taylor, Liberia's exiled warlord, stands accused of crimes across the region. A 30-page confidential report to the internationally financed Special Court in Sierra Leone alleges that he masterminded an assassination attempt against Guinea's President Lansana Conté in January (AC Vol 46 No 3), plotted to overthrow the government of Côte d'Ivoire and broke the terms of his asylum in Nigeria by travelling to Burkina Faso on 26 February.
