Controlling Parliament

The crisis is over and that is official. President Joseph Kabila’s attempts to remove National Assembly Speaker Vital Kamerhe resulted in his resignation on 25 March. Kamerhe’s crime was to have criticised Kabila’s launching of a joint military operation with Rwanda in North Kivu against the rebels of the Forces Démocratiques pour la Libération du Rwanda without a debate in Parliament.
