Beny fights on

If the Guinean government cancels the licences of the Beny Steinmetz Group Resources to exploit Blocks 1 and 2 of the Simandou iron-ore reserves, the BSGR will continue its legal fight to reverse the decision, a source close to the company told Africa Confidential. The Mines Ministry’s technical committee recommended that the government revoke the licence to the concession, part of which was sold on to Brazil’s Vale, because it said bribery was involved (AC Vol 55 No 7, Condé tests Steinmetz).
