Amina Mohammed mulls a run for the Secretary General post

With a regional push, Guterres’s deputy looks set to relaunch a bid for the top UN job

The growing demand for a woman to head the UN next year and backing from Africa’s 54 member states could boost the chances for a last-minute run for the post by UN Deputy Secretary General and Nigerian politician Amina Mohammed. She may also be helped by the lack of enthusiasm for the other contenders in the race.
