Ghana’s special envoy floats a plan for Ecowas states and military regimes to work together on counter-insurgency

After seven months of diplomatic shuttling, Larry Gbevlo-Lartey, special envoy from Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama to the Alliance des États du Sahel (AES), is awaiting final responses from leaders to Accra’s proposal for a new regional security grouping – a coalition of the willing to counter the spreading threat from violent jihadism.
