Sanogo finally on trial

The general who seized power in 2012 as Mali's army crumbled before advancing jihadists and Tuareg independence fighters, Amadou Haya Sanogo, goes on trial this week for the murder of 21 dissident soldiers whose bodies were found in mass graves at Diago. In custody for two years, he will share the dock at the Bamako assizes in the southern town of Sikasso with 17 others, including ex-Defence Minister Gen. Yamoussa Camara and former Chief of Staff Gen. Ibrahim Dahirou Dembélé .
