EFF-ANC alliance floated

A coalition with Julius Malema's Economic Freedom Fighters gave the Democratic Alliance control of key cities, including Johannesburg and Tshwane (Pretoria) after August's local elections. The EFF will again play kingmaker in national elections in 2019, African National Congress leaders tell Africa Confidential . Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma's presidential campaign team fears the ANC won't win enough votes to govern on its own and is already horse-trading to persuade key EFF members to align with it rather than the DA. The alternative, a coalition with the DA, would be going too far for most in the governing party.
