Outpouring of grief marks Archbishop Tutu's passing

International memorials celebrate The Arch's campaigning for freedom and justice as activists regroup for a new era

As world attention focussed on the requiem mass for Archbishop Desmond Mpilo Tutu in Cape Town on new year's day, activists were hailing his work for the anti-apartheid struggle and preparing for fresh battles with their country's political class. Tutu's requiem mass beamed around the world, reminding South Africa of the courage of its liberation generation. It also posed questions about what and who comes next.
