Cameroon/Asia: New farmers from the East

Asian companies have recently started negotiations to secure Cameroonian land to cultivate rice and other staples, but local civil society groups are already sounding warnings about the implications. At the end of September, the Cameroonian press and the influential non-governmental organisation Association Citoyenne de Défense des Intérêts Collectifs (ACDIC) began campaigning against favourable deals given to Chinese and Indian investors.
