Back on the Mainland

Mainland Mining, a subsidiary of China Geo Engineering Corporation, faces opposition as it tries to mend its ways and restart activities on its ilmenite (titanium-iron oxide) exploration permit at Manakara in southern Madagascar. After Mainland submitted an application to develop its environmental impact study, in August the Tourism Ministry accused the company of harming Madagascar's coastal region.
