Kidal's tense calm

An uneasy peace has returned to Kidal after two demonstrators were killed in clashes with United Nations' peacekeepers last week but the mood remains fragile in the heartland of the Azawad autonomist cause. The demonstration came after the French military arrested about a dozen people suspected of involvement in a 12 April roadside bombing that killed three French soldiers from the Opération Barkhane counter-terrorism force.
