A credible offer to end the war with Eritrea and the opening up of state companies to private capital are Ethiopia's biggest strategic shifts in over a decade. Premier Abiy Ahmed's radical moves, announced on 5 June, follow intense debate in the executive committee of the ruling Ethiopian Peoples' Revolutionary Democratic Front stretching back many months.
