Weah scores away

Liberian President George Weah was one of only four African heads of state to attend the European Commission's showcase for its overseas development aid programme, 'European Development Days' (EDDs), in Brussels last week and the only one to emerge with pledges of cash. The warmth of his reception outweighed those given to Rwanda's President Paul Kagame, who was greeted by hundreds of Brussels's Rwandan expats – both supporters and opponents – while Niger's Mahamadou Issoufou and Burkina Faso's Roch Marc Christian Kaboré went almost unnoticed.
