Sisi in the city

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's appearance in New York for the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly proved a rare diplomatic tour de force for Egypt's government. After a shaky start, when Sisi compared the legacy of his predecessor, Egypt's second president Gamal Abdel Nasser, to Nelson Mandela's in a speech on the side-lines of the Assembly, the Egyptian president managed to shore up a series of alliances.
