Poll blow for Trovoada 

Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada and his ruling Acção Democrática Independente (ADI) emerged from the elections of 7 October as the biggest party, but they lost eight seats and their majority. The ADI won 44.2% of the votes and 25 seats on an 81% turnout, while the main opposition party Movimento de Libertação de São Tomé e Príncipe/Partido Social Democrata (MLSTP/PSD) surged to 42.5% and 23 seats in the 55-member National Assembly.
