Immune to diplomacy

On 20 June last year, a private plane made a refuelling stop at the international airport on the Cape Verde island of Sal. On board was the 49-year-old Colombian-born Venezuelan businessman Alex Nain Saab Morán. Moments after touchdown, local police arrested him on an international warrant from the United States, where he is accused of laundering US$350 million from Venezuelan government bribes.
