Turmoil at the top deepens

The split between the heads of the governing alliance parties is getting wider as the economy declines ever further

President Lazarus Chakwera is attracting widespread public criticism for excessive international travel while the economy festers – as does public opinion of the government – and the gap between the country's top two elected officials and their political parties increases.
