Discontent in the air

The facade sometimes cracks. Angola's state media habitually promote the governing Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) but, for two hours on 12 March, Rádio Nacional de Angola sounded more like the relatively independent Catholic Rádio Ecclésia. The debate was on the state oil company, Sonangol, whose chief, Manuel Vicente, recently announced that it would invest US$50 billion over the next six years, for the 'Angolanisation of the oil industry'.
