Bring in the money

The President's trip to London produced some useful aid and gave him a chance to encourage investors

Links to the former colonial power serve Sierra Leone well. On a trip this week to meet British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and the Prince of Wales, the new President of one of the world's least developed countries, Ernest Bai Koroma, bagged £36 million (US$71.53 mn.) in aid commitments. Britain's Minister of International Development, Douglas Alexander, announced two new programmes. One will provide a £20 mn. ($39.74 mn.) grant to boost the electricity supply tenfold.
