The news that the arms onboard the hijacked MV Faina were destined for the Government of Southern Sudan – via Kenyan end-user certificates and covert transport – has damaged Nairobi-Khartoum relations (AC Vol 49 No 20) and may lead to the cancellation of a cheap oil deal for President Mwai Kibaki’s government.
