François Compaoré, the President's brother, and a lawyer named Sankara (but no relation) are just some of the applicants queuing for the top job

P>After President Blaise Compaoré and Prime Minister Tertius Zongo, Burkina Faso's most senior politician is Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, National Assembly Speaker and Chairman of the National Executive of the ruling Congrès pour la Démocratie et le Progrès. In early February, he called for party unity while denying what everyone in Ouagadougou knows - that the CDP is at odds with the Fédération Associative pour la Paix et le Progrès avec Blaise Compaoré, led by the President's younger brother, François Compaoré who is, like Kaboré, in his 50s.
