Vicente to succeed Dos Santos?

Luanda’s rumour mill has gone into overdrive after the ruling Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola and the privately-owned Novo Jornal suggested that President José Eduardo dos Santos may stand down before or after next year’s elections – possibly in favour of Manuel Vicente, boss of the state oil company Sonangol. Vague though it is, this is the MPLA’s first public hint of the possibility of Dos Santos 32-year rule coming to an end.
