Troubled waters, no oil yet

Potential investors in Congo-Kinshasa worry not only about opacity and corruption but also about the boundaries of concessions. Trinity Oil and Gas, of Houston, United States, wants the government to sort out the undefined offshore frontier with Angola that runs across huge potential undersea resources (AC Vol 52 No 15). Trinity is watching with interest to see if two members of parliament who have urged the government to send the matter to international arbitration will be re-elected. These are Senator Raphaël Siluvangi Lumba of the Mouvement de libération du Congo (MLC) and Kasongo Numbi Kashemukunda of the electoral coalition Alliance de la majorité présidentielle.
