Three million euros in the fountain

The trial for theft of Tanzania's former Ambassador in Rome, Costa Ricky Mahalu, has been postponed to 9 August. The alleged offence was committed in 2002 and charges were first brought in 2006. The prosecution claims that when Mahalu purchased a new embassy in Italy in 2002, he and Grace Martin, a Counsellor at the mission, presented a false invoice for 3,098,741.58 euros (US$3.8 million), which the government paid.
