After 2008’s electoral drubbing, the União Nacional para a Independência Total de Angola (UNITA) is now far better organised, winning respect for its sustained pressure on the electoral commission, and surprising even itself with the turnout at its rallies. Yet it faces stiff competition for the position of second party from the new kid on the block, the Convergência Ampla de Salvação de Angola–Coligação Eleitoral (Broad Front for the Salvation of Angola–Electoral Coalition).
