Democracy demos

Democracy supporters demonstrated in Djibouti City after the first contested elections since 2003. President Ismail Omar Guelleh and his Union pour la majorité présidentielle had an easy victory in the 22 February polls, taking 49 of 65 National Assembly seats. But on 25 February, after the arrest of opposition leader Sheikh Bashir Abdourahim, hundreds of protestors gathered in front of the Justice Ministry, demanding his release.
