Short changed

There is a growing rift between Secretary of State for International Development Clare Short and British-based aid agencies which have in recent years become increasingly dependent on government funds for their operations. The latest row is over Whitehall's(AC Vol 39 No 11). Branch Energy's attitude to Sudan’ s National Islamic Front regime and its self-styled 'peace negotiations'. Short claimed that relief agencies were exaggerating the Sudanese famine. Short has also claimed that NGOs helped fuel the war by feeding people in rebel-held areas, and called for a ceasefire.
