Not at ease

The government's reshuffle of top army posts is widely considered a bid to be seen to be doing something amid rising protest against the pressganging of teenagers for the war front. There is no ideological change: most moves are promotions, though the Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Suleiman Hassan was sacked. His deputy replaces him: Lt. Gen. Sayid Hamed Siraj is often described as making President Omer el Beshir 'look like a genius'.
