Nerves are jangling in Asmara after the resignation of the Ambassador to Sweden, Norway and Finland. Hebret Berhe boldly criticised the resistance to reform and democracy of the ruling People's Front for Democracy and Justice and President Issayas Aferworki, and denouncing the 'kangaroo courts', meaning the Special Military Court (AC Vol 42 No 14). The PFDJ quickly went to work on the internet, unconvincingly attacking her financial probity and, bizarrely, accusing her of 'a lack of stamina'.
