Census suspicions

President Ernest Bai Koroma has called off the national housing and population census planned for April after criticism that members of his All Peoples' Congress (APC) were over-represented in its management. Due last December, the census was interrupted by the Ebola crisis. The opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) said the preparation was poor and the effects of the epidemic could impact on the results. At first, many were puzzled that, uncharacteristically, Koroma gave in so quickly.
