Doors opening

China’s Kingho Energy has big ideas for Sierra Leone, but such plans could go the way of many other ambitious investments. The US$6 billion agreement the company signed with the Ministry of Mines on 14 May promises railways, a port, an industrial park and a hydroelectric plant. Work has yet to begin and there appears to be no clear timetable for the project, at least according to Kingho officials in Sierra Leone.
