Under Tsuyoshi Okamoto’s leadership, Japan’s Tokyo Gas is preparing to invest in its first liquefied natural gas projects in Africa. Executive Vice-President Shigeru Muraki announced in October that the company would take up majority stakes in LNG plants in Africa and Southeast Asia. Tokyo Gas is also seeking stakes in smaller plants and is considering alliances with Japanese companies JGC Corporation and Chiyoda Corporation.
