Water cannon fodder

The assault on leading oppositionist Kizza Besigye by police on his way to a Forum for Democratic Change meeting on 4 November was the latest in a series of violent crackdowns on the opposition in Kampala. Besigye's car window was smashed and he was pepper-sprayed at close range. The images of the opposition leader being knocked over by a water cannon shocked many.
