Touadéra’s allies in Moscow and Kigali back his third-term aim

Defying local and foreign enforcers, activists protest against the President’s anti-constitutional plans

Hundreds of activists took to the streets of Bangui on 4 April to oppose President Faustin-Archange Touadéra’s plan to run for an unconstitutional third term with the support of Russia’s Wagner Group mercenaries and Rwandan troops. More protests are due this month and they are complicating Touadéra’s foreign-backed project.
