Vavi and the unions stake their claim

Not only have trades unionists pushed the government to accept most of their demands for higher wages and housing allowances but some of their leaders now believe they should provide a replacement for President Jacob Zuma. The unions’ candidate against Zuma is Zwelinzima Vavi, the outspoken General Secretary of the Congress of South African Trades Unions.
