The missing election fund

A chipper-looking President Robert Mugabe arrived in New York for the United Nations summit this week despite the strike by Air Zimbabwe’s pilots. Defying reports of his imminent (or in some cases, actual) demise, Mugabe, 86, insists on taking ostentatiously long walks around the UN complex with not a stick or wheelchair in sight. We hear aides are toning down his annual ‘state of the universe’ speech to the General Assembly after United States President Barack Obama’s more conciliatory address on 22 September.
